Important Dress Rehearsal and Recital Information

DRESS REHEARSAL:
Dress rehearsal will be held on FRIDAY, JANUARY 10TH from 3:30 to 8:00 pm at the Box Elder HS Auditorium, 380 south 600 west in Brigham City. Each class has a designated rehearsal time. Then all classes are required to meet at the auditorium at 7:00 pm for the finale rehearsal. Please arrive AT LEAST 10 minutes before your class rehearsal, in costume, with hair and make-up already done. Again, dress rehearsal is MANDATORY!!! The recital fee will be due that day; $15.00 per dancer. The recital fee covers immediate family only (parents and siblings.) For anyone else, tickets will be $3.00 per seat if bought at dress rehearsal or $4.00 at the door on recital night. Anyone who uses a seat must pay.

RECITAL:
The recital will be held on Saturday, January 11th at 5:30 pm at the Box Elder HS Auditorium. All dancers must arrive NO LATER than 5:00 pm, in costume, with hair and make-up already done. We are making every effort to be extremely organized and we need your help by being on time. We will show you the backstage room for all dancers on rehearsal night. All students will be in this room while they await their performance and you can pick them up after the show is over. Because all students are in the finale show, they will not be allowed to sit with family during the recital. It is a fairly short recital- just over an hour. Doors will open to the public at 5:00 pm on the day of the recital. Please be courteous when finding your seats; don’t cut the line or push and shove as you enter the auditorium.

COSTUMES:
Each child should have a paper with their costume describing each item he or she should bring to both the rehearsal and recital. This paper will also describe how their hair and make-up should be done. Please check and double check this paper before you come to rehearsal and the recital to make sure you have everything needed! Keep all small pieces and accessories in the bag they came in. Here are a few rules regarding costumes:
  1. Do not let your dancer eat or drink in costume. (Water only)
  2. PUT YOUR DANCER’S NAME ON THE COSTUME, especially if he or she has a costume change in the show.
  3. Be careful of lipstick and other make-up getting on the costume.
  4. Do not wear any jewelry, watches, nail polish or press-on tattoos.
  5. No underwear with costumes. (this excludes the hip hop class)
MAKE-UP:
Each dancer (except the boys ) should wear make-up to help her cute little face show up better on stage. Wear eyeshadow from the plum, lavender, brown family. Avoid blue or green. Lipstick should be bright red only! No pinks, oranges, etc. These colors will turn in the light. Blush should be a bit darker than street wear. All girls should wear black mascara. Try not to overdo it though- we still want them to look like children. :)

ACCOUNTS:
My bookkeeper Sri and my wonderful mom will again be at rehearsal to get accounts even. Before rehearsal you should all receive Statement of Account that states how much you owe. If there are any questions or discrepancies, please contact me or talk to Sri or Cherry at dress rehearsal to get things squared away. We have copies of all checks and envelopes that payments have been submitted in so we should be able to trace any questions you might have from your Statement of Account. We need your account up to date before your child can dance in the recital. As a reminder, the second half of the costume fee ($50.00) is due. They will also have the lost and found pile for everyone to check. Also, please look over the draft of the recital program to make sure your child’s name is spelled correctly.

DVDs
For this recital, you will have the option of purchasing a professional recording of the recital. (Just as an FYI, the lighting problems we had in the past have been solved!) If you would like a copy, please fill out the sheet at the accounts table, pay $20.00, and we will mail the dvd to you as soon as it is ready.

FINALE

Our theme for this finale is “CANDYLAND!!” You get to come up with your own costume for this! Bright colors, busy patterns, a combo of the two, tutus, etc. Please bring them to dress rehearsal for approval. (We will have helpers backstage to help them get their costumes hung and put back nicely- again, make sure it is labeled!) Bring these items in a bag or on a hanger with your name on it so it can be easily found. Thanks to all the dancers who have been working so hard and thank you to the parents for entrusting us with your children. We are excited for the recital and anxious to show you what your child has been learning with us. If you have any questions or concerns, please call Jen 435-225-2821. Thanks!

Christmas Fundraiser Performance:
On Saturday, December 14th, starting at 10:00 am and going until around noon, we have been invited to participate in a Christmas fundraiser performance in Bear River. It will be a fun and rewarding experience and a great opportunity to practice your dance in a performance setting before the recital. Because each dancer relies on the others in the dances, we can only participate if we can get a few classes where each member can plan to attend that day. There will be a paper on the front table. Parents, please sign your dancer's name if he or she can make it on the 14th. We will give further details from there, based off of who can attend.

Fees:
Everyone should have paid the first half of your costume payment. If you have not, a $10 late fee has been added to your account. If you have not yet paid your $5 for tights, please do so soon. Also, everyone should have correct dance shoes by this point.

Boy shorts:
Jami Peterson, our seamstress, has been sewing a bunch of spandex boy cut shorts for purchase. They will be at the studio to purchase for $8. If you would like ruffles around the hem it will be $10. If you have danced with us in years past and have outgrown your unitard, you are welcome to bring that into the studio and Jami will turn them into boy cut shorts for $5.

Music:
Parents, you are welcome to come record your child's dance so they can practice at home. Or if you bring a blank cd, your teacher can make you a copy of the music. Or ask us to email it to you. (All of Alex's Classes should have received an email with a copy of their music)

Student of the month:
Natalie Patterson! Natalie is in Joanna's Wednesday 10-12 year old class. Miss Jo says Natalie is the most dedicated, high-spirited, a kind and determined girl she has ever met. Natalie comes to class ready to learn and has made incredible progress so far this year. She is always trying her hardest and is a Joy to be around! Way to go Natalie. We love having you in our studio!
